In the first of two appearances planned for this year at Buxton’s Pavilion Art Centre, Martin Simpson will be joined by his long-term collaborator Martin Taylor for an evening of guitar music.
Well-known for his unique fingerstyle, Taylor is entirely self-taught. Along with a powerful stage presence, a good sense of humour and astounding ability, he is a master innovator, having developed a style of playing admired by many other musicians around the world.
Simpson is considered one of the finest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world. Having performed professionally for 35 years, he adds depth and excitement to all of his collaborations.
Also bringing music to Buxton will be TJQ Jazz, filling the monthly Jazz at the Arts Centre slot for April. The trio of piano, vocals and percussion will share the musical styles of swing, Latin and smooth jazz.
Martin Taylor and Martin Simpson will be at Pavilion Arts Centre on April 4 at 7.30pm. Tickets will cost £17.50. TJQ Jazz perform there on April 10 at 1pm. Tickets are £7 in advance.
