Marlpool URC Theatre Company will be performing the evergreen musical The Sound Of Music from October 22-26.
The venue is to be Marlpool United Reformed Church Community Hall with evening performances at 7.15pm and an additional Saturday matinee from 2pm.
What can you say about The Sound of Music that hasn’t already been said?
One of the most famous musicals ever, based on the true story of Maria Rainer, it is written by the hugely successful team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.
The Sound of Music is the magical tale of how a novice nun is sent to be the governess of Captain Von Trapp’s seven children and brings love, happiness and music back into their lives.
Marlpool URC Theatre Company decided to perform this show to utilize the large pool of talented youngsters that they have as members. Alison Bailey features as Maria, Simon Owen as Captain Von Trapp and Tony Wain as Max Detweiler.
Theatregoers of all ages are sure to recognize and love the classic music written by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Songs include Do-Re-Mi, My Favourite Things, The Lonely Goatherd, Climb Every Mountain and Edelweiss to name but a few.
The crew is led by producer Duncan Smith and musical director Alison Bailey.
Music-lovers of all ages are sure to enjoy this timeless family favourite, the last musical Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote together but the one which ultimately proved their most popular collaboration.

The company has an age range of 6 to 85 and has been performing together for more than 25 years.
