Starry line-up at Chesterfield theatres

Star-studded shows make the '¨new season at Chesterfield theatres the hottest ticket in town.

Actors, comedians and singers are beating a path to the Pomegranate Theatre and Winding Wheel to perform in a variety of presentations during the spring and summer.

Big productions at the Pomegranate Theatre include Shadowlands, running from May 16 to 21 and Lotty’s War, which will be staged from July 4 to 9.

Shadowlands stars Stephen Boxer (Humans, The Iron Lady, Doctors), Amanda Ryan (The Forsyte Saga) and Denis Lill (Only Fools and Horses).

Lotty’s War will be performed by Matt Ruttle (War Horse), Victoria Emslie (Downton Abbey) and Ian Reddington (Coronation Street).

Lighter offerings come in the form of Menopause The Musical, starring Cheryl Fergison (EastEnders Heather Trott), Linda Nolan (The Nolan Sisters) and Rebecca Wheatley (Casualty) on May 27 and Dirty Dusting with Crissy Rock (Benidorm and I’m a Celebrity) on June 24.

Big names from comedy who are heading to town include Rich Hall on May 29, Bobby Davro n June 26 and Jimmy Carr on July 7 and July 17.

Sixties stars The Searchers will perform on June 3 and singing siblings The Proclaimers entertain on August 6.

For the youngest theatregoers, there’s an opportunity to see Stig of the Dump on Saturday, May 14, The Giant’s Loo Roll on June 26, LazyTown Live on Stage on July 10 and Mission Impudseyble, which stars Ashleigh and Pudsey the dog from Britain’s Got Talent, on August 23 and 24.

Amateur companies include Peak Performance’s presentation of Hello Dolly from June 2-4 and Peak Youth production of Alice the Musical from June 6 to 8. Chesterfield College will perform Rent from June 21 to 23 and Chesterfield Studios stage Fame: The Musical on July 12 and 13.

Pupils from Diane Bradbury School of Dance present Raising the Barre from May 23 to 26 and Val Moore School of Dance stages Golden Rhythm on July 1 and 2.
