Classic ballet at Opera House

EUROPEAN Ballet will be performing Coppelia at Buxton Opera House on Saturday, May 28, from 7.30pm.

European Ballet are one of the most popular and exhilarating touring companies and will be presenting this colourful, most celebrated and world-favourite ballet, set to the irresistible score of Delibes.

The company of first-class international dancers, directed by principal dancer of The Bolshoi Ballet, Stanislav Tchassov, has well earned its reputation for superb classical ballet performances and high standard of dancing.

Highly respected, award-winning dancers from Russia, France, Italy, Spain and the UK will perform in the beautiful production.

The ballet interweaves the romance between Swanhilda and Franz with the story of the doll-maker Coppelius, whose greatest desire is to create a doll with a soul. Franz falls in love with Coppelia, whom he thinks is alive. He finally recognises that she is just a doll and returns to Swanhilda, after which the sparkling grand divertissement sees everyone reconciled.

Tickets are £22.50, concessions are £18.50, children can get in for £14.50. Call the box office on 0845 127 2190.
