A glitzy tie and tiara ball will be raising funds for charity – in memory of a much-loved Dales mum.
Julie Gilbert, of Oker, lost her battle with ovarian cancer last November.
Her daughter Becky has organised the charity ball at the Whitworth Centre in Darley Dale at 7pm on Saturday, September 10, in memory of her mum and to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Action.
Becky said: “Through holding this event we hope to raise lots of money for the charity in memory of our brave mum.”
The ball will see bands perform including Take The Seven from Chesterfield and local boys Lee Whittaker and The Something?
Tickets are £10 each. There will be a bar and a raffle with prizes donated by businesses.
For tickets, or to make a donation to the charity, contact Becky or Tracy Mosely, who is helping to organise the event, on 07894483872 or 07890176090.
Becky said: “Ovarian cancer is very little recognised early enough, not only by women themselves but also by doctors and other medical professionals. The symptoms are often not taken seriously enough as they are usually mistaken for something far less serious.
“Early diagnosis is key to helping more women survive this evil disease.”
