This Saturday (July 13) sees the return of Edge-Lit, the annual science-fiction, fantasy and horror day taking place at Quad in Derby.
Gathering together a line-up of UK writing talent, Edge-Lit is an essential date in the diary of any aspiring writer or reader of genre fiction.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, Edge-Lit 2 features a stellar line-up of speakers, including three Guests of Honour: leading comic writer and graphic novelist Mike Carey, one-million selling fantasy author Stan Nicholls and acclaimed science-fiction novelist Tricia Sullivan.
The full schedule of events offers a mixture of panels, workshops, readings and more. Edge-Lit 2 will have a mixture of panel discussions, giving insights into various aspects of genre writing and publishing, as well as writing workshops for those seeking inspiration and advice on their own writing.
Each Guest of Honour will have a dedicated solo slot, and panel topics include creating strong setting for genre stories, how the internet has changed writing, crime and genre fiction and the popularity of ‘Urban Fantasy’. These panels will be complimented by a range of workshops, offering budding writers valuable advice from leading authors in the field. Guest speakers also include: Sarah Pinborough, Adam Christopher, Tom Fletcher and Andrew Hook.
Doors open at 10am with a programme of events running from 11am until midnight. Tickets for the day cost £25. For more information, to download the full programme of events or to book tickets, call Quad’s box office on 01332 290606
