A theatre company is rising to the challenge of staging a play which is rarely tackled by amateur groups.

Eckington’s City Players are presenting The Safari Party at their Corner Playhouse this month.

This tense, hilarious comedy is from the pen of Tim Firth who wrote Calendar Girls, Neville’s Island and BBC TV’s Preston Front.

This three act play is unusual in that it has three different sets, and because of that is not often performed by amateur groups.

However City Players have taken the challenges on board and look forward to surprising audiences with the intricacies of this production.

Three households have agreed to hold a “safari party” - a dinner party, each course of which is served in a different house with a wide range of colourful hosts.

The production runs from May 18 to Saturday, May 30 (no performance on Sunday, May 24) at 7.30pm. Tickets £10. Contact 01246 430507 or www. cityplayers.co.uk
