Peak District star Ben Ottewell, recipient of the 1998 Mercury Prize as part of Gomez, is returning to the area for an intimate show.
He will be performing at The Loft, Matlock, on Friday, January 8.
Ben, who grew up in Bonsall, headlined The Ale House Rocks Music Festival at the Square & Compass, Darley Dale, in September.
Organisers of the festival have scored a coup in getting him back “home” to play under the banner of ‘The Ale House Rocks Music Festival presents....”
Mike McMaster, one of the festival’s organisers, said: “Ben is perhaps the greatest musical success story to come out of Matlock and it is an honour to have him back with us.”
Since playing the festival, Ben has completed a UK and Australian tour and ticket holders to the show at the Loft can expect a mixture of Ben’s solo work and sprinklings of Gomez tunes.
Supporting Ben on the night are Echoed in Earth doing a rare acoustic set, GarethBarkley Smith (Barkley Smith/Two Fifty Calibers) and Joel Atkin (Joe Man Hater/Violent Chimes). Tickets are available from www.wegottickets.com/event/340087 and are priced at £10.
The Ale House Rocks team are busy preparing other shows in and around Matlock throughout the year, including two Echoed in Earth shows; their EP launch at The Loft on Saturday, January 16 (with support from The King Bains) and a Saturday night celebration at Twenty Ten on February 20 which also sees the return of Joe Man Hater, playing their first show in nearly eight years! Both shows will be free entry.
