Well-known local skiffle band Please Y’Self debut their new album Full Tilt this Saturday at the White Swan, Belper Market Place.
The band, comprising brothers Rob and John Gill and sister Chris Shaw, are still gigging regularly after an incredible 39 years since they emerged from a rag week busking band at Matlock Teachers College. As well as playing festivals such as Glastonbury and appearing at the country’s most prestigious rock venues, the band has appeared with such seminal artistes as The Clash and jammed onstage with Jools Holland while on tour.
Famed for their continuing onstage antics and spontaneity, the many locals fans of the band are in for a feast of fun this Saturday.
Singer-songwriter and guitarist John has fond memories of the time he taught music at Belper School in the 1970s and hopes to see a few old pupils in the audience.
The band can also be seen at Matlock’s Twenty Ten bar on Saturday, May 27.
