organik Trio, a Derbyshire-based Hammond Organ trio, will perform at The Whitworth Centre in Darley Dale on Friday, April 1.
The trio features Wendy Kirkland on Hammond organ, Pat Sprakes on guitar and Clive Loveday on drums.
A completely different animal from the piano trio, the Hammond trio is capable of a vast array of styles, and has a big, warm sound. Organik Trio play soulful, swinging, bluesy, jazz standards with some originals especially written for the Hammond trio.
All three members are seasoned jazz performers who work with a variety of other ensembles, and have come together through their love of organ trios of the 50s and 60s, such as Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, Dr Lonnie Smith and Larry Young’s bands.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets cost £7.50 or £6 concessions. There is free parking, a licensed bar and disabled access at the venue. For ticket, and general enquiries, contact Sarah Bennett on 01629 733759.
