Matlock Musical Theatre is launching its new show this week and opening it doors for new members to join the company.
If you fancy embarking on a new hobby for the new year, come and join in the group’s latest taster session, to take place on Friday, January 17, at 7.30 pm at the Imperial Rooms in Matlock.
The evening will be an opportunity for you to meet current members and have a go at singing through some of the fantastic music from the next show, Little Shop of Horrors.
MMT has been going in various guises since 1907 and members would like to keep moving the company forward.
A spokesperson for the group explained: “To do this we need new and enthusiastic blood, especially under 50s and, as always, men.
“Our performances are varied and year-round. We do full musicals, concerts, revues, carol singing and the recent, very successful, Halloween Panto Beauty & the Beast was a new venture for us.
“We have performed in community halls, schools and theatres. Our Right Royal Revue and acclaimed American Dream featured a wide range of music from shows and the world of popular music such as items from My Fair Lady, Half A Sixpence, Miss Saigon and Hairspray, and numbers by artists from Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Abba and Lady Gaga.
So if any of this appeals to you why not come and see what we are all about on Friday (January 17)?
“You don’t need to be able to read music or have lots of experience, just a love of performing, and willingness to learn and have fun.
“Musical theatre is a fantastic hobby and very rewarding. If you can’t make the taster session you can contact us about coming along to a normal rehearsal.
“We meet on Wednesdays at 7.30pm at the church hall of Matlock Methodist & United Reformed Church on Bank Road.
