Family fun planned at Hall charity event

Summer’s almost here, which means that Thornbridge Hall’s 11th annual Charity Garden Party is not too far away.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, July 7, from 10am to 4pm, in support of local charities.

This year’s party will be raising funds for Helen’s Trust, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Brainstrust and The National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline.

The garden party will have various activities for the whole family, including open house and gardens, plant sales, craft fair, a children’s entertainer, owl and falconry displays, a funfair and so much more.

You can also be entertained by live music from DaleDiva, Facsimile and many other exciting local talents.

There will be plenty of food and drink on the day from various local suppliers, including Matlock Meadows, New Close farm, the Wild Boar Man, plus the award- winning Thornbridge Brewery will be launching their new summer ale.

In addition, for this event only, the original Thornbridge Hall Brewery will be open to the public with a chance to Meet the Brewers.

After the huge success of last year’s event, raising substantial funds for charity, the Thornbridge team hopes local residents and visitors will join the garden party and that thousands of pounds will be raised for this year’s chosen charities.

Entry tickets are available at the gate: adults £5, concessions (OAP) £4 and kids under 16 £1. .

n The social club at Matlock Town FC plays host to its latest live music event on Friday, May 31, from 8pm.

Performing at the club, based on Causeway Lane in the town, will be The Rod Stewart Experience.

Performer Garry Pease will be giving his acclaimed tribute to one of the country’s top music stars.

Tickets will be available on the night, priced at £10 or £8 for members, or from the club shop.
