Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds is to bring its final tour to Nottingham Capital FM Arena on December 2.
The show is to star Jason Donovan, Brian McFadden, Shayne Ward, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Joseph Whelan, and, in 3D holography, Liam Neeson, all conducted by Jeff Wayne.
The show, based on HG Wells’s famous story, features remarkable special effects, including the incredible thre-tonne 35-foot tall Martian Fighting Machine firing real flames into the arena, a 100 foot wide “animation wall” with two hours of cutting edge CGI, the incineration of a cast member in front of the audience’s eyes, a ground-breaking levitation effect and much, much more.
This is the last chance to experience the award-winning Arena production.
Jeff Wayne said: “Bringing The War of The Worlds to life in many of the world’s finest arenas has been the most amazing experience, both musically and technologically. However, the time is right to take The War of The Worlds in new directions after the 2014 tour. All I can say for the future of TWOTW is – watch this space!”
Adding a new dimension to the final ever arena tour and marking a spectacular finale HG Wells, the author of The War of The Worlds, will be brought back to life in sight and sound.
Jeff Wayne added: “Over the years TWOTW has built a reputation by challenging our creative team to add new ingredients to every production that would move and excite our audiences further.
“For our final UK arena tour, I decided that it was time to give TWOTW creator – HG Wells a chance to ‘have his say’, about why he wrote what has become known as the first science fiction story ever written, and its meaning to the real world we live in.”
