The Derbyshire Volunteers Big Band return to the Assembly Rooms, Derby, on Sunday, January 15, at 6pm with their Annual Charity Concert and Ceilidh, as part of a three-part musical extravaganza.
This 20-strong ensemble has brass, percussion and rhythm sections, supporting the fiddles, concertinas and melodeons, the biggest British ceilidh band on the scene.
It all starts with a concert featuring members of the Volunteers performing together, and in various combinations, then a performance from their latest recruit, Lucy Ward, accompanied by Belinda O’Hooley and Heidi Tidow.
Lucy is a finalist in two categories of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards that will take place at Salford Quays in February.
The event rounds off with the Grand Ceilidh where you can dance until you drop and drive those midwinter blues away.
This is all in support of the charity Water Aid.
Tickets are £13, concessions £11, under 16s are free when accompanied by a full paying adult, available from the Assembly Rooms box office on 01332 255800, or the PR Promotions Ticket Hotline on 01773 853428.
