RISING local band Dreaded Monkey are gearing up for a busy period of gigging over the next few weeks.
First up for the quartet, whose members hail from Eastwood, Heanor, Ilkeston and Arnold, is a gig on Friday, May 6, at the MG Ballroom on Lenton Boulevard in Nottingham.
Next will be a performance at The Old Bell in Derby on May 22, B Bar in Nottingham on June 5, plus further gigs throughout June that include taking part in the Out Of The Box festival at Amber Valley RFC on June 18.
Meanwhile, also on June 5, Dreaded Monkey are competing in the second heat of the Surface Festival 2011, looking to follow up a knockout performance in the first heat of this UK-wide unsigned bands contest. You can vote for them by texting midlands 3118 to 64343. Terms and conditions apply.
Finally, the lads have been working on a follow up to the 2010 EP The Weight Is Uncertain. The so-far-unnamed EP will consist of the tracks Wake Up, This Is Not A Song, The Family and Where We Belong. The Ep is due to be released later this month.
