Members of the gold medal winning Grand Central Chorus recently returned from the International Barbershop competition in Canada where they were the UK representative.
They returned to rehearsals, looking to gently flex their vocal chords and ease their way back in but the director had other ideas.
A 20-minute warm up and two new songs, It Was Just One Of Those Things and Beginning To See The Light, were brought out for them to wrap their chords around .
Then, with new members to assimilate and performances to prepare, it was back into the repertoire which includes The Beatles Obla Di Obla Da, Robbie Williams’s Angels and Billy Joel’s She’s Always a Woman to Me.
You can see the chorus perform these songs and more on Saturday, September 28, at 7.30.pm, in the Methodist Church, Waingroves Road, Waingroves, Ripley.
Tickets are £8 including refreshments, available from Margaret on 01773 3743509 or via email at email@example.com
The chorus is fifty strong now with ages from 16-81.
If you fancy having a go, the members are always welcoming to visitors to their rehearsal, at Harrington School, Derby Road, Long Eaton, NG10 4BJ at 7.15.pm any Wednesday.
See the website www.grandcentralchorus.com for a sample of their sound.
