THE Flowerpot in Derby welcomes The Lancashire Hotpots through its doors for a gig on Friday, October 7.

The five-piece band offers up a broad selection of folk-inflected songs, with a dash of humour dry Lancastrian humour never far from the surface.

The members often make use of broad Lancastrian dialect within their lyrics and they have released five albums to date – Never Mind The Hotpots, Pot Sounds, The Lancashire Hotpots’ Christmas Cracker, Criminal Record and Achtung Gravy.

Support on the night comes from local favourites The Re-Entrants.

On Saturday, October 8, the King Street venue welcomes The Humans, the alt-rock outfit featuring former chart favourite turned actress/singer Toyah Willcox.

The band, also featuring Bill Rieflin (ex-REM) and Chris Wong, has recently released its second full length album, Sugar Rush, packed with sweeping, cinematic sounds, tender contemplation and exhilarating energy. Expect to hear some tracks from it in their Flowerpot gig.

The Acoustic Wednesdays sessions return on Wednesday, October 12, with Cupola performing for free, in the bar, from 9pm.

Old favourites The Nimmo Brothers return on Friday, October 14, with another electrifying evening of blues music.

Over the last 15 years, Glasgow’s Stevie and Alan Nimmo have become among the most revered purveyors of modern scene on the UK scene.

The pair have recently been recording a new album in Austin, Texas and their reputation on both sides of the Atlantic continues to soar. They are firm favourites of gig-goers at the Flowerpot so pop along to see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Chris Farlowe plays on Saturday, October 15, with support on the night from the Norman Beaker Band, providing another memorable evening at the Flowerpot for blues fans and then Woolley and Archer play their latest set in the Acousic Wednesdays slot at the venue, on Wednesday, October 19. Again, entry to the gig in the bar is free and it gets under way at 9pm.

Doors open for all of the other gigs at 8pm.
