The debut single from a Belper singer/songwriter is creating a positive buzz at a local, regional and now maybe even a national level, ahead of its release on Monday, July 7.

James Pecz is releasing the track Summer Time Song on Belper’s Sound-Hub Records under his stage name Peczy.

It is already available to pre-order on Itunes, Amazon and Google play.

James, 32, a former Belper School pupil who was born and bred in the town, explained: “I have been singing and writing songs for about 12 years now, but this is the best song I have written and the one myself and Sound-Hub have lots of hopes of being a hit.

“I’ve been on the covers circuit with various bands for years now, but wanted to have a go as a solo performer too.

“I signed to Sound-Hub Records, and the response to the single has been great. I’m really pleased.”

Summer Time Song has been played across the BBC’s East Midlands radio stations at the weekend and has now been passed on to Radio One and Radio Two so if it can get any national airplay there too.

It has also been chosen as the theme song for the forthcoming Belper Games and the video is to be previewed at Belper’s Ritz Cinema.

James continued: “I wrote the song last summer, just sitting outside on the decking at home. It was a real summery feel out there and the song came from that. It’s a commercial song with an upbeat feel.

“I think sometimes people criticise pop music as being a bit cheesy and you maybe try to write what will be considered cool. But with this, it was more a case of doing what comes naturally and writing a catchy song without any inhibitions of what people might say about it.

“It’s the best song I’ve written. I thought it was a good ‘un when I first wrote it acoustically and once we got in the studio and built it up, you could tell it had all the right ingredients.

“People keep telling me it’s the sort of song that sticks in your head, so that’s a good response to get.”

James will be performing a solo set on July 19 at the Belper Games and more details about James and his song are available at Facebook.com/JPeczy or on Twitter at @_Peczy_

The song is supported by a suitably upbeat video, directed by Chris Clough, that was shot in and around Belper, at various well-known locations such as The River Gardens, The Tavern pub and the countryside around The Chevin.

James added: “We put out a call on Facebook and loads of people turned up to appear in the video. It was filmed on May 18, which was the hottest day of the year so far, so it wasn’t hard for us all to imagine it was the middle of summer!”
