Local group The Heartless Tarts will be supporting The Teacups in a concert on Saturday, March 29, at the Florence Nightingale Memorial Hall, Holloway.
The Teacups are the latest sensation to come from the Newcastle University Folk and Traditional Music Degree Course, and are gaining a big reputation on the scene.
They are a vibrant new folk vocal quartet, featuring Alex Cumming, Kate Locksley, Rosie Calvert and Will Finn. They perform traditional and contemporary songs in a wide variety of styles from all over the UK and beyond. Since forming in their first year at Newcastle, The Teacups have performed at The Sage, Gateshead, numerous folk clubs and festivals. The group released their debut CD One For The Pot last year.
The Heartless Tarts consist of Alison Green, Helen Boyce, Annie McClimont and Gwenna Carless all of whom are members of the prestigious Fishpond Choir. Singing mainly traditional folk songs, their voices blend beautifully in unaccompanied three/four part harmony.
The Tarts (three of whom are pictured) also released their debut CD Ladies Wot Sing last year, which received great reviews in the folk press.
The concert starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from Dave on 01773 856545.
