Touch of brass proves a hit

Darley Dale Cricket Club welcomed Dronfield Brass Band to their Station Road ground on Sunday for the first in a series of summer brass band concerts there.

Anthem from Chess, Rovers Return and I Know Him So Well were among a number of rousing tunes performed by the popular Dronfield outfit.

The crowd of in excess of 50 feasted upon locally sourced hot dogs and burgers from Coates of Darley Dale, accompanied by baps and buns from Hayes Bakery.

Wirksworth’s Brewery Bunny Hop went down a storm with the barrel despatched within the first hour. Dronfield Band were pleased to announce they made £150 from their raffle and auction.

Attention now turn to the next concert, on Sunday, June 17, to be performed by Shirebrook Brass Band from 7.30pm.
