The puppets are back in town next month when the Buxton Puppet Festival returns to Buxton Opera House.
The co-production by Buxton Opera House and Funny Wonders will see the event span seven days, from Sunday August 3 through until Saturday August 9.
As usual there’s a host of colourful workshops and performances to look forward to in numerous locations around the town.
Performances in Pavilion Arts Centre this year include Aladdin (Sunday August 3); a large-scale shadow puppet show about a poor street boy who falls hopelessly in love with a Royal Princess.
Or why not join Miss Amelia Buttersnap, an expert on fairies who embarks on a journey to photograph one (A Real Fairy Story, Tuesday August 5, 2pm & 4pm)
Other puppet shows include The Three Billy Pigs (Thursday August 7 at 2pm) a light-hearted storytelling with live music and a little bit of eco awareness.
Outdoor puppet shows are also incorporated into the festival with A Melange of Marvellous & Magical Monsters on the Pavilion Gardens Bandstand, with creations from Buxton Infant School Puppet Club (Friday August 8 at 3.30pm).
As always there are free puppet shows to enjoy on the Opera House forecourt.
