Peak District-based Babbling Vagabonds are bringing their new theatre production The Devil and the Three Golden Hairs to an abandoned quarry as part of this year’s Bakewell Arts Festival.

The venue for the production is Holme Bank Quarry and performances are at 6pm and 8pm nightly from August 10-13.

This outdoor walkabout performance is an epic story about a Luck Child who is born to be King. Can his prophecy come true? Will he really marry the Princess? Or can the evil King change the course of destiny?

Babbling Vagabonds’ joint artistic director Phil Coggins explained: “Performing outside is always exciting. It has its challenges as you never know what the weather may do, but when you see the sun set over such a beautiful landscape, it is a truly magical experience.”

This is adventure theatre for adults and only the bravest children. Parking is available at the Riverside Business Park, off the Buxton Road A6 by following the yellow signs. It is a 15-minute walk to the site so please allow plenty of time. Tickets can be obtained in advance or on the night.
