All aboard for a theatrical treat

DERBY Live is inviting you on a unique and very theatrical journey – literally – for a play that is to be performed on a bus, running between Derby and East Midlands Airport.

Skybus has been created by Andy Barrett and Esther Richardson and departs each night between October 24 and November 12 from in front of the big screen in Derby Market Place.

As another passenger on the Skybus you will get the chance to eavesdrop on the comic conversations between a group of larger-than-life characters bound for the airport, all going on a ‘journey’.

As the excitement and anticipation mounts, escape, discovery, romance and chance encounters are all on the cards for our passengers.

Skybus director Esther Richardson said: “Skybus is conceived as a road-play, exploring what it means to be in transit in 2011: for individuals, for communities and for a city such as Derby. Big themes collide with local resonances, in what we hope will be a thoroughly entertaining and thought-provoking experience – a real adventure, where all who board are taken away and brought home.” Tickets are between £11 and £17 and are extremely limited.
