One extraordinary superhero, 12 impossible tasks…it’s the story of Hercules as you’ve never seen it before.
From the critically acclaimed New Art Club comes Hercules, a new family friendly take on one of the classic tales of Greek Mythology.
It can be seen at Nottingham Playhouse on Sunday, May 17.
New Art Club are Pete Shenton and Tom Roden, often described as the Morecambe and Wise of dance, renowned for creating unique work that brings together the worlds of dance and comedy.
Now they bring their unique comic style and sense of the absurd to the story of the 12 Labours of Hercules in a hilarious and highly successful family friendly show.
Co-produced in partnership by Dance4, New Art Club and Nottingham Playhouse, Hercules will premiere at Nottingham Playhouse, prior to undertaking an initial 14-date mid-scale venue and festival tour through until summer 2015.
Hercules recreates the story of the Greek myth for a 21st century audience, following the story of The 12 Labours in a crazy cabaret style, with Pete as the unlikely superhero and Tom as the show’s compere.
Throughout the performance there are also appearances by an amazing hula hooper, hilarious dancing double act The Two Wrongies and the multi talented musician and performer Scott Smith.
The show also features three groups specially selected for the host venues, who will perform three of the 12 Herculean Labours alongside the professional cast.
New Art Club have crossed the boundaries of high and popular arts, having performed their work at Sadler’s Wells, The Royal Opera House and Melbourne International Comedy Festival as well as touring around the world and throughout the UK.
New Art Club’s work is fuelled by the duo’s shared spirit of adventure and their performances are loved by audiences and critics alike.
Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) while a family ticket is £30.
