Join Joseph for some family fun

The Theatre Royal Nottingham and Qdos Entertainment have announced the headline cast for this year’s spectacular family pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Following the hugely successful return of Birds of a Feather to our television screens earlier this year, one of the nation’s best-loved actresses Lesley Joseph will star as The Wicked Queen. Joining Lesley onstage is EastEnders heartthrob and Dancing on Ice 2011 champion Sam Attwater as The Prince.

Back by popular demand, Ben Nickless (last year’s critically acclaimed Mr Smee) returns to the Theatre Royal to play the hapless Muddles, alongside one of the theatre’s most popular pantomime dames, Andrew Ryan, who will play The Nurse.

Jonathan Kiley, executive producer of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs said: “The Theatre Royal annual pantomime provides a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to come together to enjoy a memorable visit to the theatre. We are delighted to have put together such a fabulous cast for this year’s pantomime and audiences can look forward to an unmissable production packed with comedy, sensational musical numbers together with fabulous sets and costumes. This is pantomime at its very best!”

The Theatre Royal’s director of sales, marketing and development, Jonathan Saville, said: “We are delighted to see such a strong and talented cast announced for this year’s pantomime.

“We’ve been lucky enough to have Lesley, Ben and Andrew perform here in pantomime before and we know that our family audiences absolutely love them, or love to hate them in the case of our fabulously Wicked Queen, of course! It’s definitely not going to be one you’ll want to miss.”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs from Saturday, December 2014 to Sunday, January 11, 2015.

n Following the success of The Big Reunion on ITV2, ITV and partners Live Nation have announced the launch of The Big Reunion Boy Band Tour.

The acts will be heading to Capital FM Arena Nottingham on October 19, this time bringing along the seven boy bands from both series – Five, Blue, 911, (from 2013 series) plus A1, Damage, 3T and the recently-formed 5th Story, featuring Gareth Gates, Dane Bowers, Adam Rickitt, Kavana, Kenzie (from 2014 series).

Series one, which aired last year, starred some of the biggest pop groups of the nineties coming together for the ultimate reunion. Acts featured included Five and 911, joined by surprise addition Blue midway through the series. The groups were thrust back into the spotlight, reliving their dreams and revealing the highs and lows of life in a pop group. The groups followed the success of the programme by embarking on two UK and Irish tours in May and December.

The show returned to TV screens this February with a brand new line-up of popstars. The new supergroup is comprised of solo artists Gareth Gates, Adam Rickitt and Kavana, along with Another Level’s Dane Bowers, and Kenzie.

Tickets are priced from £30.80 (includes administration fee). Tickets can be booked online at www.capitalfmarena.com/online/TheBigReunion

n Holly Williams makes a striking individual statement with The Highway album and is to play Glee Club Nottingham on Sunday, June 29, on one of only three live UK dates.

Hailing from one of the most famous lineages in American music would surely create challenges for most artists to create their own identity, but not for singer-songwriter Holly Williams.

The granddaughter/daughter of Hank Williams, Sr. and Hank Williams, Jr. respectfully, makes her independence evident on her third studio album – The Highway.

A near-fatal car accident left the emerging songstress unsure if she would be able to play the guitar, but she overcame her injuries and began playing and writing songs and the third album is the result.

Tickets are priced at £13, available from www.glee.co.uk/nottingham

Doors open at 7pm. Call the box office on 0871 472 0400.
