The Comedy Club Derby returns to The Jury’s Inn Hotel on Friday, November 29.
Host comedian for the night will be award winner Sam Avery.
Sam wanted to be a rock star. It nearly happened. Despite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round), and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T, the story soon took a familiar turn with contracts anulled and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. Friendly and enthusiastic, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease.
Opening comedian is Sally Anne Hayward, who combines the things you shouldn’t like about your best friend’s mum with the sensibilities of Jack the Ripper. She grew up to reject dizzy incompetence and feminine wiles for a disarming mix of ingratiating charm and unsettling pugnacity.
Headline comedian is Michael Legge, fast becoming the most sought-after acts on the comedy circuit. He is a unique comic talent with a background in improvisation, stand-up, writing, compering, hosting, acting and TV warm-up work.
Tickets are £19.95 (members £18.95). Doors open at 7.30pm.
