Buxton Opera House will be transported back in time to July 1954 for Patrick Marber’s After Miss Julie, a drama filled with seduction, passion and obsession on Monday, April 11, at 7.30pm.
In a country house near London, the Labour Party’s landslide election victory is in full swing. The lady of the house, Miss Julie, descends into the servants’ kitchen to seek out John, her father’s chauffeur.
As the night draws in and flirtation turns to passion, the two lovers embark on a consuming and deadly dance of desire. Sex, class and ambition battle for centre stage as Patrick Marber relocates Strindberg’s brutal, sensual love story to post-war England.
The play is suitable for audiences aged over 16 and over, and there will be an after-show discussion with members of the company following the performance.
Tickets for After Miss Julie are priced at £13.50. Call the box office on 0845 127 2190.
