In this 100th anniversary year of the First World War, the weekend of Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9, will see audiences in Chesterfield and Buxton share in a remembrance tribute presented by Tideswell Male Voice Choir.
Through dance, visual effects and poetry, ‘Never Forget’ will unfold and offer the audience a feast of delight. The show will pay tribute not only to the heroes of Flanders Fields but also to all those who have made sacrifices in other theatres of conflict down the years and throughout the world.
Director of Music and Principal Conductor, Dennis Kay said: “The show will be spectacular and will take the audience on a roller coaster of emotion from a sense of apprehension and sadness through to hope and then finally jubilation as light overcomes darkness. From authentic letters written to England in 1918 from a French field hospital to more recent words written by military wives to husbands and partners in
Afghanistan, the vivid emotional picture touches us all. It will be a real visual and aural delight and will culminate in an absolutely breath taking finale which will leave the audience utterly spellbound.”
The performance will feature ten-piece Corus Brass, renowned poet F. Philip Holland, Sixth Form dance students from Buxton Community School and vocal soloists Erin Alexander, Charlotte Hoather, Matthew Mellor, Madeleine Osborne, Philip Rigley and Kieron-Connor Valentine.
Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre will host the performance on November 8 and Buxton Opera House is the venue for the performance on November 9. Tickets are priced at £26 and can be purchased via box office or online for each venue.
