Wassail event at Inkerman Park, Chesterfield

Join in with Morris dancing, sample mulled cider, apple juice and home-made cake.

The Friends of Inkerman Park in Ashgate, Chesterfield, are holding their annual wassail on Sunday, January 18, at 2.30pm.

The Cock & Magpie Morris dance team will be performing and encouraging spectators to join in.

Party-poppers are likely to be let off in the park’s community orchard. Traditionally at wassails, a gun should be fired through the branches of the trees.

The orchard was created in 2009 when Transition Chesterfield donated four fruit trees. The borough council gave a further ten apple trees in 2013.
