The November meeting of the Wirksworth and District Probus Club took place at the Wheatsheaf when chairman Neil Jury welcomed a capacity
attendance of members, and their ladies. Visitor David Green was also welcomed.
Details were given of forthcoming events, including the Christmas shopping trip to Birmingham December 10 and the Christmas lunch which is being held at the Brackendale Restaurant, Carsington, on December 15. There were still a few seats available on the coach to Birmingham, and anyone interested in should contact social secretary Roy Webster on 01335 370308.
The speaker at the meeting was Brian Naylor whose subject was Heage Windmill.
He talked about the history of the mill and its restoration.
The talk was enhanced by a slide show, illustrating the various
stages of restoration.
The speaker was thanked by Roger Culverhouse.
Following the meeting members enjoyed lunch.
The next meeting of the club will be on December 8 when the speaker will be Colin Underwood on the subject of the RNLI.
The club meets at the Wheatsheaf on the second Monday of each month, 10am for 10.30am and visitors are welcome.
