Twenty five of the best UK adventure films will be showcased, including the award-winning ‘Distilled’, which explores Scottish winter climbing and profiles life in the mountains.

Another will be Ella Kirkpatrick’s El Capitan film ‘My Life, Big Climb’, a made-for-TV film telling the story of the 13-year-old’s plan to scale the 3,000ft wall in California’s Yosemite Valley. Accompanying the film will be a Q&A session.

The festival, which raises funds for the college, will also feature family activities such as film-making and bouldering competitions, indoor caving, slacklines and mountain bike time trails.

Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for under-18s (under-fives free).

Acclaimed author and mountaineer Andy Cave will present an evening lecture on his life story ‘From Miner to Mountaineer, A Life on the Edge’, and wild stories from his recent Patagonian adventures. Tickets for this are £7.50.

For tickets and the full schedule, visit www.hvaff.co.uk. Tickets are also available from Outside in Hathersage or on the day from the Hope college.
