Art inspiration for Matlock project?

Inspirational ideas which could be introduced in Matlock, including murals marking local history, will be discussed at an open meeting of Matlock Civic Association.

The meeting will hear from Derek Turner, Chairman of Retford Civic Society who will describe the variety of projects his Society have been involved with.

Among these is a large mural painted on the large blank wall wall of a former laundry to celebrate the history of the building.

A painting of a sweet shop frontage has also been erected.

These ideas, and others, could provide a source of inspiration for a future Civic Association project in Matlock.

The meeting will also include an update on the Civic Association’s recent activities in Matlock and some other ideas for future work in the town.

The meeting will be at the Matlock Methodist Hall on Bank Road (underneath the Methodist Church) on 10 June starting at 7.30pm and anyone interested is welcome to come.
