Award-winning bluegrass singer Claire Lynch to perform in Buxton

Grammy-nominated bluegrass singer Claire Lynch has been described by Dolly Parton as one of the ‘sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business’.

Claire is doing a short tour of the UK and Buxton has scooped a date on Friday, August 28, in between two appearances at the Guinness Bluegrass Festival in Ireland.

A pioneer of bluegrass music,her huge array of awards include being placed in the top ten as one of the ‘most angelic voices of our time’ by Digital Journal - an honour she shares with Judy Collins, Alison Krauss, Sarah McLachlan and Dolly Parton.

Claire’s accolades include two Grammy nominations and three International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist awards in 2010 and 1997.

At the 2014 IBMA Awards, she received two trophies: Song of the Year for Dear Sister, a writing collaboration with Louisa Branscomb and Recorded Event of the Year. The latter was for collaboration with the Special Consensus Bluegrass Band, who performed at Buxton Opera House earlier this year.
