Baslow and Holymoorside singers unite for cathedral concert

Baslow Choir and Holymoorside Choral Society (musical director for both: Andrew Marples, pictured) are combining into one choir of more than a 100 voices for a spring concert featuring two great choral works: The Music Makers by Edward Elgar and Messa di Gloria by Puccini.

They are accompanied by The Hallam Sinfonia a 50-piece orchestra based in Sheffield.

The concert is at Sheffield Anglican Cathedral on Saturday, April 21, at 7.30pm.

Also on the programme are Elgar’s famous Nimrod variation and Patrick Doyle’s stirring Non nobis Domine from the film Henry V.

Guest soloists are Beth Moxon (mezzo-soprano), Andrew Henley (tenor) and Edmund Damon (bass) - all young talented opera students from London.
