Boys are back in town for Thin Lizzy tribute

One of the most in demand tribute bands to play at The Flowerpot, Limehouse Lizzy are an outstanding outfit who perform a stirring and detailed tribute to the late great Phillip Lynott and Thin Lizzy.

Fronted by the talented and uncanny Lynott lookalike Wayne Ellis, he sings perfect renditions of Lizzy classics, re-creating that distinctive Lynott vocal style with breathtaking accuracy.

There’s another blast from the past on Saturday, February 7, when The Kast Off Kinks perform at the King Street venue.

This is an all star band featuring former members of The Kinks.

The iconic British rock band are often cited as one of the most important and influential rock bands of all time.

During the band’s 32-year career, there were some changes in personnel. Pete Quaife, the original bassist, was replaced by John Dalton in 1969, and keyboard player John Gosling was added in 1970. Following the two Johns departure in the late 1970s, Jim Rodford became the Kinks’ bassist (after a short tenure by Andy Pyle) and Ian Gibbons took over on keyboards. Original drummer Mick Avory left the band in 1983, to be replaced by Bob Henrit.

The Kast Off Kinks formed in 1994 and it is what the name implies - the original line-up consisted of the band that played Lola (apart from Ray and Dave Davies), together with singer/guitarist Dave Clarke. The current line-up is the band that played Come Dancing, still with Dave Clarke covering for the Davies brothers.

Finally, on Thursday, February 12, there’s a chance to enjoy a gig by the Blair Dunlop Band.

A captivating vocalist, Blair has rapidly emerged as one of the finest of singer-songwriters on the roots circuit. His achingly beautiful Blight & Blossom may be one of the most memorable and melodic debut albums of recent years, but what has really marked him out from his peers is his ability to craft meaningful songs that connect with everyone who claps ears on them.

Still only 22, few people in the music world who had been paying attention were surprised when he scooped the prestigious Horizon Award at the 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and although Blight & Blossom attracted a rapturous reception from the critics and received regular airings from a host of stations including BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music upon its release in August 2012, Dunlop took it all in his stride and set off on his travels.

Doors open at 8pm. Admission is £12 for Limehouse Lizzy, £12 for The Kast Off Kinks, and £9 for Blair Dunlop Band.
