Brendon stands up at The Victoria Inn

The Victoria Inn in Derby plays host to a comedy gig on Saturday, February 21, by stand-up star Brendon Burns.

Brendon has embarked on a stand-up comedy tour in anything but comedy clubs, reflecting his personal dismay with the live comedy scene in the UK.

So he’s decided to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Doug Stanhope and Patton Oswalt in the US and leave the comedy clubs behind, touring absolutely anything but. From zoos to libraries, from old indie music venues to comic book stores, Brendon Burns is breaking out of the box.

This tour is aimed at those with their ears to the ground, fans that are truly passionate about stand-up. Fans who are OK with sensitive subject matter and digging a little deeper to read the subtext.

Burns is not your everyday comic. Older, wiser, calmer (and after being fitted with a hearing aid, infinitely quieter) Brendon’s energy is still enticing. Never pompous and ever self-deprecating, his influence is ubiquitous. Often replicated but never matched, his shows aren’t just extended sets, Burns specialises in creating experiences.

Admission is £8 in advance. For more details, go to http://www.thevictoriainnderby.co.uk
