BUXTON FRINGE 2014: Creature comforts for Buxton-raised Anna

Buxton-raised writer-performer Anna Beecher returns to the Fringe with her irreverent take on the tale by the Brothers Grimm.

‘Hans My Hedgehog’ is a story about a woman who longs for a child and her son is born with the prickled back of a hedgehog, a rich man gets so lost in the forest that he seeks the help of a beast, and a young girl longs for a handsome husband but finds herself promised to a creature.

Brought alive through a warm, lyrical, solo performance suitable for families and adults, ‘Hans My Hedgehog’ is a story about being different, about the dangerous power of fear and transformational power of love.

Anna’s passion for performing began as a student of Buxton’s REC Youth Theatre.

Aged 16 she was then awarded a place to study at the BRIT School for the Performing Arts in London.

Now 25, Anna works professionally as a storyteller and live artist.

‘Hans My Hedgehog’ will be staged at Underground Venues at the Old Hall Hotel on Thursday July 24 (1pm), Friday July 25 (1pm and 5pm) and Saturday July 26 (1pm).

Tickets are priced between £5 and £7.
