Call to young dancers to audition for panto at Buxton Opera House
Talented young dancers will have a chance to shine on Sunday, June 14, when producers of the Buxton Opera House pantomime hold chorus auditions.
The juvenile chorus has become a popular feature of the pantomime and auditions attract hopeful dancers from throughout the East Midlands.
This year’s panto is Aladdin. The talented cast is led by Kelsey Beth Crossley from Emmerdale and The Voice as Princess Jasmine and James Holmes from the popular comedy show Miranda as Widow Twankey. Sally Brooks, who has worked on a number of London musicals, will once again act as choreographer.
The auditions, which will be held at the Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton between 3pm and 6pm on Sunday, are open to young dancers with good technical ability, who are between the ages of 9 and 15 and over 4ft 8 ins tall. Candidates will not be eligible if they turn 16 before 2 January 2016.
Applicants must be available over the weekend of October 16-18 and should be prepared to take part in intensive rehearsals between November 17 and December 11. The show closes on January 2.
Audition applicants should register by calling Pat Russell on (01298) 72050.
