Chesterfield College students organise concert for Fairplay charity at Proact stadium

Two students at Chesterfield College are spearheading a fundraiser for a charity which helps children and young people with disabilities.

Georgi Clark and Heather Whitehead have organised a concert at the Proact stadium on Tuesday, December 15, in aid of Fairplay.

Heather is a volunteer at the Chesterfield-based charity which offers support to children and young people aged 0-25, and to their families.

Fairplay runs playschemes and Saturday clumbs for children, youth clubs, activity days, themed groups and independent living groups for young people. The charity organises parent support groups and family trips.

Georgi is related to Dan Booth of Nottingham-based band Ferocious Dog, who are selling out venues up and down the country. Violinist Dan and singer/guitarist Ken Bonsall from the band will be playing at this fundraiser.

Also on the bill is Max Restiano and his band. Although just 18 years old, singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Max has already caught the attention of some of the biggest names in showbusiness. Max has had some amazing opportunities from meeting Gary Barlow and performing on his solo album ‘Since I Saw You Last’ to playing on Donny Osmond’s 60th album and playing saxophone and accordion with Olly Murs for a Children In Need special.

Latterly, Max has been working with Geri Halliwell in the studio and helping Peter Kay out on backing vocals.

Chesterfield’s own Casey Lowry is bringing sparkling indie pop to the Proact stage. After returning from tour shows with Radio 1’s ‘Coasts’ and ‘The Hunna’, in just two months as a solo artist the 18-year-old has headlined the 02 Academy in Sheffield where the old fans of his previous band Parka came out in force.

Alex Wallhead from Chesterfield has also signed up for the fundraiser. He took part in this year’s X-Factor 2015, and made it to boot camp. Alex spent a short time in a boy band called Recall, and now he tours solo.

The concert starts at 7pm. General tickets £10, meet and greet £15 (6pm admission). To book, contact Georgi on 07811 383577.
