The production will be in the safe hands of Dronfield Musical Theatre Group which has changed its name from Dronfield Light Opera Group.

The group has been producing live theatre in the town for more than 40 years.

Group chairman Alan Powell said: “We have decided to change the name to more accurately describe what we do. We have found that people find the term Light Opera difficult to define and because everything we do is musical theatre we decided it would be sensible to change.

“But it won’t make any difference to what we actually do – that will remain the same. We will still be producing three shows a year – in May, October and a pantomime in January.”

Performances of The Card are at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. For tickets, call 01246 416364.
