Eddie and the Hot Rods and Oliver/Dawson’s Saxon at Whitwell Festival of Music

More than 30 acts will be playing over three stages at Whitwell Community Centre, including homegrown ska outfit The Orphans and, fresh from Glastonbury, folk-rock outfit Seven Little Sisters.

The fun kicks off on the night of Friday, September 11, with Ed Tudor Pole airing hits such as Swords of a Thousand Men and Wunderbar.

Big names on Saturday are Eddie and the Hot Rods, best known for the new wave anthem Do Anything You Want To Do, and Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson’s Saxon whose hits included And The Band Played On and Wheels of Steel.

Performers from Whitwell and beyond who will be performing over the weekend include Ken Bonsall (Ferocious Dog solo), Maelor Hughes, W.O.R.M., Black Thorn, Red Ruff, Sam Jones, Star Botherers, Corinna Jane, Blackfish, DH Lawrence & the Vaudeville Skiffle Show, Undercover, Jake Sharpe, Parson’s Lot, Gary Edward Jones, and Break A Leg.

Arts and music workshops, open mic opportunities, craft stalls, kids’ activities and a real ale and cider bar will make this festival one for all the family.

The festival is organised by volunteers from Whitwell Forward community group. Profits made from ticket sales are donated to the area’s groups and charities.
