Following the huge success of last year's event, the Peak District will again welcome a gin festival with a difference this summer.

Aptly named Rave in a Cave, the subterranean party has been masterminded by Gin Jamboree founder Andrew Wilson and will be hosted within the vast chamber of Peak Cavern in Castleton on Friday July 20 and Saturday July 21.

Andrew said: “Following the great success of last year’s event, we have not only added an extra day this year, but also upped the tempo of the event, with a great DJ and an amazing light show to finish off each evening.”

The event will feature over 100 types of gin each offered as the ‘perfect mix’ and alongside cocktails and cocktail mixology demonstrations.

Tickets for the event also include a Jambalaya supper, a ‘goldfish bowl’ gin glass and table snacks. There will also be a gin shop on site.

To prepare for the event, the organisers will have to navigate 500 bottles of gin, 2,500 bottles of tonic and 200 kilos of ice, through a deep limestone ravine, along with the necessary event infrastructure, all on foot.

“It will take a lot longer to prepare for than one of our typical events, but will be totally worth it,” said Andrew.

“Queen Victoria attended a concert here in 1880, so if it’s fit for royalty it’s good enough for a Gin Jamboree!

UK sales of gin broke the £1.5 billion mark for the first time ever in 2017, with a growth rate higher than any other spirit sold in UK.

Andrew, whose Gin Jamborees take place right across the country, commented: “The public’s thirst for all the new and amazing gins just keeps growing and a Gin Jamboree is just the perfect place to try these while enjoying a fun evening of food, music and good company.”

Gin Jamboree’s Rave in a Cave at Peak Cavern will take place between 6.30pm and 11pm and costs £20 per person. The ticket price includes a booklet which describes all of the 100 different gins on offer, a gin ‘balloon’ glass to take home and a delicious supper.
