Blues breakthrough artist Alex McKown will be appearing at The Globe in Glossop on Saturday February 8, at 8pm, to promote his new release Go With The Flow.

“I did my first ever gig with my own band in Glossop so I can’t think of a better place to launch the album,” McKown, 17, explained.

The gig comes hot on the heels of worldwide music publication Blues Magazine’s prediction that the Simmondley-based teenager will be one of eight artists from around the globe who will “break big in 2014”.

McKown, who is set for a busy 12 months, with a number of major festival appearances already lined up, added: “I was thrilled to be highlighted by such a major publication.

“This genre of music is getting a lot of attention at the moment, especially with young artists like The Strypes and Jake Bugg attracting new audiences to blues-inspired music.”

McKown will be appearing with his band, featuring Lee Buckle on bass, Martin Schofield on drums and Simon Peat on saxophone.
