High Tor Players are in final rehearsals for Table Manners by Alan Ayckbourn which will be staged in three venues next month.

Liz McKenzie, who is directing the production, said: “A professional company will have weeks of whole days to prepare for a production; the High Tor Players usually have ten weeks of two rehearsals a week, each lasting two hours at the most. It’s a good job we love it and have a committed team. Everyone pitches in and together we make it work.”

The company will stage Table Manners at Youlgrave Village Hall on April 7, Ashover Parish Rooms on April 8 and Wirksworth Town Hall on April 9. All performances start at 7.30pm.

Table Manners focuses on a daughter who is looking after her ailing mother when she decides to have a weekend away and entrusts the care of her mum to the remainder of her family. However, not all goes according to plan.

Jane Small, who chairs High Tor Players, said: “Under the experienced direction of Liz McKenzie we are assured of a polished and entertaining evening.”

Simon Brister, secretary, added: “This continues a highly successful revival of the group that celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2017. The recent successes and the new members attracted means we can now stage a greater variety of productions and we are looking to including Darley Dale in our November ‘tour’.

Tickets for Table Manners cost £8, obtainable by calling 01629 733407 or on the door.
