Highfields School’s musical theatre production

Students from all year groups at Matlock’s Highfields School contributed to the annual musical.

This month’s production of Honk! was a combined effort by pupils and staff who were involved in singing, dancing, playing in the band, managing the sound, backstage and front of house duties.

Julie Harrod and Harry Diggle played the lead roles.

Honk! is a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling and incorporates a message of tolerance.

Folk music played by the school’s Friday Night Club entertained the audience during the interval.

Highfields School has a strong tradition in the performing arts.

Its next public event will be the Christmas concert which showcases a range of musical talent.

As part of Matlock Food Festival entertainment, students from Highfields performed extracts from Honk, as well as 15-minute performances of Hamlet and a dance routine.
