Mansfield Choral Society to present Messiah at Palace Theatre

They are joined by new voices from the local community to perform Handel’s sacred oratorio, Messiah, on Saturday, November 1, at 7.30pm.

Although Mansfield Choral Society has performed Messiah a number of times over their 40-year history, this will be their first performance of the great work for over 7 years.

The society will be joined by soloists Abigail Broughton (soprano), Meili Li (counter-tenor), Richard Roddis (tenor) and Rene Bloise Sanders (baritone).

The Helix Ensemble will accompany the performance and they will be conducted by their artistic director, Peter Siepmann. Peter has recently become a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Organists.

In this the choral society’s 40th anniversary year their choice of programming has reflected the diverse range of musicality that the group performs.

They have also produced a CD of their Mozart Requiem concert at the Nottingham Albert Hall in May.

Mansfield Choral Society is a non-audition, friendly, welcoming mixed choir of soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices with a current membership of over 100 active members of a variety of ages.

The choir rehearse every Thursday at Queen Elizabeth Academy, Mansfield from 7.15pm to 9.15pm.
