Messiah to be performed by Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir at town’s Crooked Spire Church

Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir will perform Handel’s Messiah in the atmospheric setting of the town’s Crooked Spire Church.

The choir will be accompanied by the Lancashire Chamber Orchestra in the concert on Saturday, November 8, at 7.15pm.

The Messiah was first performed in Dublin in 1742 and received its London premiere nearly a year later. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known choral works in Western music.
