Music of Roy Orbison lives on in tribute show

Roy Orbison, the man that brought us Only the Lonely, Crying and Oh, Pretty Woman will be the subject of a live music show which tells the extraordinary story of the musical legend’s life and career.

Known for his trademark sunglasses, Orbison reached the height of his fame between 1960 and 1964, when he had over 15 of his songs on the Billboard Top 40.

A pioneer of rock ‘n’ roll, Orbison produced hit after hit, from darkly emotional ballads to catchy rock ‘n’ roll numbers.

Barry Steele’s tribute to Orbison’s musical legacy, at Buxton Opera House on Sunday, September 13, takes audiences on a journey through time, beginning with Orbison’s early years in the 50s, right through to the late 80s and The Travelling Wilburys – a super-group line-up of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne.

Original footage from Roy Orbison’s life and work will be projected on a large screen backdrop.

Joining Steele on stage is Paul Molloy who will perform as a young Elvis and Boogie Williams as Jerry Lee Lewis.
