New twist to classic

One of the most popular of all 19th century operas, Verdi’s tragic masterpiece La Traviata, comes to Buxton Opera House on Thursday May 16.

La Traviata tells the tragic and gripping love story of Violetta, the famous courtesan forced to give up the love of her life, only to die in poverty, young and heartbroken.

Opera UK’s new production will add a twist to the famous tale, with the adaptation set in Hitler’s Germany.

The opera will be sung in English with a new translation. La Traviata starts at 7.30pm.
