Phoenix Theatre Group’s new play Keep The Home Fires Burning set for Chesterfield’s Rose Theatre

Players are to present their tribute to the centenary of the First World War by portraying the impact on those left behind while soldiers were fighting on the front line.

One scene in a new play entitled Keep The Home Fires Burning looks at how women had to take on the roles of conductors and motormen on the Chesterfield Corporation tram network.

The play, which will be launched by Phoenix Theatre Group tonight (Thursday), has been written by its director Rob Pilton, with one scene penned by Phoenix founder members Doris Worthington and another by newcomer David Brown.
